Day 19 Bayeux

Louise drove us to her work at La Defense, and from there we took the train to St Lazare.  We had an hour to eat and look around before catching the TGV to Bayeux.  It was nice to listen to random people playing the piano in the station while we were waiting.
The trip to Bayeux was just over two hours and it took twenty minutes or so of walking to find the Hotel Le Bayeux, where we were staying for the next two nights.  It is very quirky and extremely comfortable, and at $A170 a night, not over- the-top expensive for the area. The management is friendly and you are welcome to sit in the comfy chairs in the foyer after a busy day and drink the wine they keep in the fridge (at a cost, of course).
We went for a walk around and found the museum which houses the Bayeux Tapestry.  I had never seen it, so it was good to take it all in after hearing about it since school days. We had dinner at Le Conquerant, followed by a yummy blackberry kir.  Bed not too late, making up for the night before.
