Day 6 Brussels

We actually had to get up early, which was a bit of a shock to the system, to get the tram then train to Brussels..  We caught the DNR train, second class, at 25 Euros per person, which was a lot cheaper than the Thalys or Eurostar, and took only half an hour longer.
Helen met us at Bruxelles Midi station and then we went back to Central to meet Alex.  He took us around the city, the highlight of which was a few drinks at the Delerium Tremens Bar, which had over 1000 beers to choose from!  Following that we had lunch outside at a ramen restaurant, before Alex had to leave to meet a friend in France for a couple of days.  It was great to catch up with him, and I know Helen worries about his welfare, being in war-torn countries, but it is what he wants to do.  He obviously finds it much more exciting and rewarding than being an architect in the city.
Of course no trip to Brussels is complete without a waffle, so we chowed down at La Chaloupe d'Or before heading back to Amsterdam around 6.45 pm.
